We are a handcrafted kitchen knife handle manufacturer based in Hanoi, Vietnam,
Our journey began with a love for restoration—reviving the beauty of old Japanese tools and kitchen knives. I used to collect vintage Japanese knives, fixing them up piece by piece. But I soon discovered that the handle was the hardest part to restore. So, purely out of passion, we started experimenting with making handles.
What began as a personal hobby slowly turned into something more. We realized that many people around the world shared our love for craftsmanship and well-made tools. Thanks to the trust, support, and encouragement of our customers, we've been able to grow Boogwa into what it is today.
Craftsmanship with Purpose
Our knife handles are handcrafted using traditional Japanese tenon and mortise construction techniques, ensuring not just a beautiful aesthetic but long-lasting strength. Each handle is custom-made to your specifications—tailored to fit your blade, match your grip, and suit your personal style. We offer a variety of shapes: Wa/Octagonal, D, Oval, and Half Oval + Half Wa.
We also offer custom engraving (logos, text, symbols) to make your handle even more personal. For special orders or unique requests, don’t hesitate to reach out directly. You can also see more of our work on Instagram: @knifehandle37.
Sustainability & Materials
Vietnam is home to countless traditional craft villages, but byproducts like wood scraps and horn offcuts are often discarded. At Boogwa, we see potential in these materials.
- Wood: We use offcuts from the furniture and wood sculpture industries—small, beautiful pieces of wood that would otherwise go to waste.
- Buffalo Horn: We repurpose buffalo horn sourced from long-standing Vietnamese horn craft villages, particularly Thuy Ung village in Hanoi.
Through this approach, we not only reduce waste, but also elevate the value of materials, honor traditional crafts, and support local artisans.
Our Mission
Boogwa isn't just about making handles—we're here to revive and revalue Vietnamese craftsmanship. For too long, handmade Vietnamese products have been overlooked globally, often seen as outdated or low-value. We’re working to change that.
By blending sustainability, precision, and passion, we aim to create products that compete on the global stage—while supporting the communities and traditions that shaped us.
